Well, it's getting to be about in the middle of the semester, and I have about 8-9 paintings, none of them completely. Although I will say that they all are at least 50% of the way towards done, so that's good. Went to Chelsea this Friday and saw some amazing galleries, and of course some that I didn't like so much. But, you have to take the good with the bad. I'll post some pictures I took at the galleries and my progress on some of my paintings. I'm trying to work my way through my list of realities, so for my thesis, I'd like to display the best paintings and drawings from that, if possible. If it turns out all the paintinga are really great ( I know, I'm optimistic), I'll just show all the paintings, and maybe have the sketches/drawings in the silent auction, who knows? So, from now on I'm thinking of ending with a little nugget of wisdom, from various sources, but today's is from Stephen King: “A tragedy is a tragedy, and at the bottom, all tragedies are stupid. Give me a choice and I'll take A Midsummer Night's Dream over Hamlet every time. Any fool with steady hands and a working set of lungs can build up a house of cards and then blow it down, but it takes a genius to make people laugh.”

Update: turns out, there is no easy way to post a lot of pictures, you have to do it one at a time. So, that's what I'll do. I'll start with my paintings then show what I saw at Chelsea. It may take a while. You can right click and open the image in a new window to see a bigger version.

Really not much to say in this post. I realized that when I start a painting I tend to just jump into it with half or less of a plan. So, it will eitheir come out okay but could have been better or it will just suck. So, I've been doing sketches and trying to plan ahead what I'm going to do on the canvas, and the color sceme. I did start one new painting, but the color on the central figure is too much and it's muddy. I originally wanted her to be a grayish yellow like her hand. In my print class I've started my second layer. Print is very much different from what I normally do. It's all about the process, but it's still enjoyable.  Well, till next time, good night and good luck.

This is supposed to kind of be Clint Eastwood as Jesus, still have some work to do on the face.

I like the center of the painting, with the hand gripping the female's fingers. The woman's body looks bulky and weird.

This is the drawing for my first print.

This is the print, the second layer.

Okay so here are the pictures I promised yesterday.
One day we manage to get out of our solar system, and we find a planet with living things on it. We land, and much to our dismay find out that the aliens are a little like rednecks.

I just started this with the idea that a kid is about to be attacked by some sort of monster. The kid grabs his toy spacer blaster, and you know what, it works.

Dirty Harry, God.

Well, it's been about two months since my last post. Started classes last week, and I'm back into the swing of things. I've started a couple of new paintings, which I'll post eitheir tommorrow or Friday. Starting to really think about Thesis. I've started making a list of all the things that I want to paint that would constitute an alternate reality, here's the list thus far:

1.      What if God was one of us?

2.      What if God was Clint Eastwood? Or Dirty Harry?

3.      What if the Native Americans hadn’t thought the white men were gods?

4.      What if the world had moved on?

5.      What if there were monsters under the bed and other places?

6.      What if there were superheroes?

7.      What if there was magic (real not sleight of hand and misdirection)?

8.      What if Armageddon?

9.      What if there were no technologies?

10.  What if the world emptied?

11.  What if there was an afterlife?

12.  Heaven? (Best memories)

13.  Hell? (repetition)

14.  The Devil?

15.  The Rapture?

16.  Aliens?

17.  Higher forms of life?( Not neccesarily aliens)

18.  Cosmic order?

19.  Unicorns and fairies?

20.  Cthulhu?

21.  Plague?

22.  Good vs. Evil?

23.  Oz?

24.  What if the evil that men do lived on long after they have passed? (Haunted house)

25.  What if God died?

26.  What if Dinosaurs still existed?

27.  What if we create what we believe? ( God, angels, The devil, monsters, science, etc.)

28.  What if there was an island???

29.  What if the Hobbit… in New York City?

30.  What if there was a Shire?

31.  Four figures, the hero, a kid, on the left, while two bullies on the right are picking on a kid. The bullies look over their shoulders, looking amused but at the same time a little frightened. Wide scene.

32.  What if the devil was human?

33.  What if animals could talk?

34.  What if reality was as thin as tissue paper, what would we see on the other side?

35.  What if Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis had been shot instead of John F. Kennedy?

36.  What if there was life on mars?

37.  Utopia?

38.  Dystopia?

39.  Everyone was crazy?

40.  No one could die?

41.  What if cancer wasn’t such a bad thing?

42.  What if what didn’t kill you did make you stronger, and stranger?

43.  What if your imaginary friends were trying to kill you?

44.  What if a small boy had all the power in the world?

45.  What if the Anti-Christ is a really nice guy?

46.  What if the devil walked old ladies across the street?

47.  What if you killed God, would you be God?

48.  What if the government actually worked?

49.  What if cops tried to brutalize the “wrong” guy?

50.  What if cats made good guard dogs?

51.  What if Bill Clinton did not have sexual relations with that woman?

52.  What if Jesus is a dick?

53.  What if you could dodge bullets?

54.  What if scientology is right, Tom Cruise would be so happy?

55.  What if Jack Torrance had lived?

56.  What if there was no more oil?

57.  What if there were zombies?

58.  What if Dracula was a diabetic?

59.  What if Utrecht had a 50% off coupon?
A lot of the things on the list are things that just came to me, and some are things that were just funny. I'd like to get through all of these or more in one form or another, whether it's just a sketch or a full fledged painting. Some of thse are just questions while others are just me trying to flesh out the scene. I plan on adding to the list as I go and if anybody has any ideas for an alternate reality please feel free to tell me, no idea is to outrageous or silly. Long days and pleasant nights.

Last week before finals, and I'm not worried. I've done a surprisising amount of painting in the second half of the semester and look forward to what people have to say. That being said, I think I might have overworked the large painting with the taped lines. I was trying to get it to look unified while still having the lines there, so, I'll post some pics below and hopefully tell me what you think. In other news, I did an evil clown painting, pretty happy with it. It started as paint scrappings smooshed on watercolor paper, and now reminds me of Pennywise the dancing clown. I finished ( I think) a painting of Rod Serling, who invites us into the fifth dimension. I really like the colors and how I've managed not to muddy them up. Finally, back to poor George Bailey. I added a layer of dark purple in the backgroung of it. it makes the door that George is eyeing fearfully stand out more. I might work on it some more, but for now I like it how it is. I just want to thank Irene Geller for her wonderful review on her blog, it's always nice to get a boost to the old ego. Well, that's all she wrote, ta ta for now!

Didn't realize the stool was in the way, my apologies.
